Apexi AFC NEO vs MOVICHIP POWER TUNER

2 min read

The Apexi AFC NEO and the MOVICHIP MAF Manager Rivazza both do the same fundamental thing. They adjust the MAF signal to adjust fuelling

APEXI AFC NEO vs MOVICHIP POWER TUNER – KEY DIFFERENCES

Mapping Points

The Apexi AFC NEO uses throttle position and RPM to adjust the MAF signal.

The MOVICHIP POWER TUNER uses engine load only

Wideband Lambda Sensor

The Apexi AFC NEO cannot connect to a wideband lambda sensor signal

The MOVICHIP POWER TUNER integrates with a 0-5v wideband lambda signal

Tuning Process

The Apexi AFC NEO requires you to datalog on a separate device and tune the AFC NEO manually using the figures from the datalog

The MOVICHIP POWER TUNER is fully automated, you select the AFR you want at high load and low load, the POWER TUNER does the rest

Installation

The Apexi AFC NEO is designed to be mounted inside the car and needs to be wired into the cars wiring harness at the ECU. This is potentially a nightmare.

The MOVICHIP POWER TUNER unit is designed to mount inside the engine bay and wires into the cars sensors in the engine where access is usually easier and less intrusive.

Turbo Conversions & Camshaft Upgrades

The APEXI AFC NEO can potentially adjust fuelling even for big modifications like turbo conversions and camshaft changes because it alters the MAF signal on an RPM basis. However we believe for such big changes to the volumetric efficiency also require ignition timing adjustments not just MAF signal adjustments

The MOVICHIP POWER TUNER adjusts the MAF signal according to load only, if the user requires more adjustment than this ie against RPM we would recommend a product which controls the injectors directly AND can adjust ignition timing.

CONCLUSION

The POWER TUNER is superior to the AFC NEO because it does what you need, ie adjust fuelling according to load and it tunes automatically, making it an easier product to use.
