Why are our products made to order?
MoviChip products are made to order ie when a customer makes payment, only then will their product be built, but why?
Evolution
MoviChip products are constantly being developed, be it the hardware or software. By making products to order the customer can be sure they are receiving the latest evolution of the product.
Made to Order Downsides
Of course there is a downside to this approach and that is a longer lead time. But generally build times are less than 5 days, so while there is a delay in dispatching orders, they are kept to a minimum.
Older Products
While the products are constantly evolving, the updates will not fundamentally change the operation of the product eg if you have a MAF CAL from a year ago, your product will still do the same thing as the newer versions.
Types of Changes
The newer versions may have optimisations made to the circuit board to make assembly more straightforward and cheaper or the circuit board may use different components for better resolution.
Changes may be made to the software inside the hardware, or the app may be upgraded to make the settings easier to navigate, or the app may include new features, to give a few examples.
A change could also be something as small as the way the product is delivered eg the BT module having to be plugged in to the board by the customer instead of being pre-assembled (sometime shipping companies can be rough with parcels which disconnects the module from the main board. Shipping the BT module separately in the parcel for customer to plug in to the board, can save confusion when it comes to setting up the product with the app).
Whatever the case may be, the fundamental operation of the product will be the same.
And if the change is backwards compatible eg an upgrade to the app like the Tune Function for the MAF CAL, then it will be published via the MoviChip newsletter.
