Knock Sensor ECU (KSC3) – Quick-Start Guide
- Wire KSC into car as shown in the manual
- Connect BlueTooth module to main KSC3 unit
- Pair KSC3 to your Android device
- Download KSC3 app and install
- Find your engine’s theoretical knock frequency
- Open KSC3 app
- Enter your frequency detection window
- While listening to your audio knock detection system (DIY guide here)
- Carry outline a “Baseline” run for base volumes (see baseline run instructions in manual)
- Enter your volume thresholds in app
- Your done. KSC3 is now ready to detect engine knock (with visual and/or analog signal notifications)
- Perfect your frequency window and threshold settings in the KSC3 app using your audio knock sensor as you drive (if necessary).
FAQ
If I can detect knock audibly, why do I need a KSC3?
When you have your KSC3 knock detection settings where you like them, you no longer need to listen audibly. You will get a visual indication with the supplied LED. You can also datalog knock using the 0-5v signal from the KSC3.
The KSC3 lets you automatically detect engine knock without the need for headphones.
The KSC3 lets you datalog knock and take action automatically using your engine ECU and it’s compensation tables, when the KSC3 detects engine knock.
If you only want audio knock detection, you do not need the KSC3. KSC3 does not have an audio output.
