MAF CAL Advance – Product Update 1.10.26

MAF CAL Advance – Product Update 1.10.26

October 1, 2026 Off By RICHARD

Development of the MAF CAL Advance MAF tuning/MAF calibration and fuel tuning product is coming to end with product release due in Oct 2026. This article briefly describes the upgrades and the extra features that MAF CAL ADVANCE has over MAF CAL.

Updates

MAF CAL Advance has an upgraded PCB over the MAF CAL product which allows a more precise reading of the incoming MAF signal leading to a more precise MAF signal output (previously MAF output accuracy +/- 0.02 volts, now better than +/- 0.01 volts.

Going forward the MAF CAL and MAF CAL ADVANCE will both benefit from this increased precision.

Signal output method has also been updated to work with more ECUs. Still analog signal only.

Advance Features

MAF CAL Advance has all of the features included on MAF CAL.

Additionally it lets the user to choose the AFRs they want by tuning the MAF signal.

Requirements

A wideband lambda sensor is essential to read engine AFRs.

Closed Loop function requires MAF CAL ADVANCE is connected to the analog output of a wideband lambda sensor such as an Innovate LC2.

Engine ECU must be running in open loop fuel control for these functions to work.

Fuel Enrichment & Closed Loop Function – MAF Tuning

By tuning the MAF sensor signal, the user can choose the AFR they want under normal load conditions. Normal conditions defined as loads below “Min Load” kPa threshold set by user in app.

The user also defines the maximum rich AFR they want to target above the maximum load threshold. Again, set by user in app.

When engine load is above Min Load and below Max Load, multiplier values programmed by user will be interpolated according to load and MAF Input (to MAF CAL ADVANCE).

Image showing how lambda target changes according to engine load (MAP) with MAF CAL ADVANCE product. AFR changes achieved via MAF tuning (MAF signal tuning)
Lambda target (green line) vs engine load (red line). In this example AFR target below min load threshold is 1.0, above max load threshold target is 0.8 lambda.

AFR targets are set in the Closed Loop function in the app by the user.

Load thresholds are defined in the “Enrichment” function, by the user, also through the MAF CAL ADVANCE app.

Functions Active

The Enrichment and Closed Loop functions can be activated and deactivated independently of one another.

Enrichment

With only Enrichment activated, MAF compensation is fixed to the stored compensation values.

Closed Loop

With only Closed Loop enabled, MAF CAL ADVANCE dynamically alters the stored MAF adjustment to achieve “Idle” AFR target.

With Enrichment and Closed Loop activated, MAF CAL ADVANCE dynamically alters MAF adjustment to achieve “Idle” and “Max Rich” AFR targets, when load is below min load threshold and above max load threshold. When load is between these two thresholds the closed loop multiplier values are interpolated.

This example shows how Orange line (MAF output to engine ECU) changes vs MAF sensor signal according to “stored mult” and “stored mult load”.
